Designs & Signs installed painted wall logos at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. Our shop is in Edgewater, Maryland, and we travel to paint walls on site. A hand painted logo gives a lobby or hallway a finished, welcoming look, and the lettering is done by hand on the wall itself.

How We Position and Transfer the Pattern

First, we position a paper pounce pattern on the wall and tape it in place. Whenever we place a pattern, we check the measurements with a tape measure and a level. We cannot fix placement errors, and the only remedy would be to paint out the mural and start over.

Next, we transfer the pattern to the wall by rubbing a small pounce bag of charcoal powder over the design. Once the charcoal line is ready, we remove the paper pattern, and the lettering is brushed onto the wall by hand. We keep the background paint available for this step. It lets us touch up drips and runs and cover small parts of the edge that need fixing.
