Gold Leaf Boat Lettering That Brings Your Boat Name to Life
Gold leaf boat lettering starts with a premium black Avery vinyl outline. Then we install 22 karat gold leaf film carefully on top. We usually use engine-turned and burnished gold leaf film, but other finishes are available, such as brushed and Florentine swirl.
Our newest gold leaf films will last ten years on your transom. However, we recommend changing your boat name at 8 to 10 years. If you leave Avery vinyl on the transom too long, you’ll end up with an embossed shadow. In that case, we compound your transom to remove any glue residue and the shadow of the old name, and then we install the new lettering.
Famous Ships and Boat Names
- Mayflower: this ship carried the Pilgrims to North America in 1620.
- Santa Maria: Columbus sailed to the New World in this renowned vessel.
- HMS Victory: one of the oldest vessels still afloat, she was Lord Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar.
- Titanic: this iconic ship needs no introduction. If you haven’t seen James Cameron’s famous movie, it’s worth a try.
Choosing a Boat Name
The best boat names fit the boat. Fishing boats often carry playful names like Fish Tales, while motor yachts suit names like Pegasus or Carpe Diem. Houseboats lean relaxed, such as La Dolce Vita or Serenity Now, and cabin cruisers are often named for someone special. Whatever name you choose, our gold leaf boat lettering will make it stand out.
Popular boat names year after year include Seas the Day, Serenity, Second Wind, Andiamo, Aquaholic, Island Time, Freedom, Happy Ours, Serendipity, and Pura Vida.
Gold Leaf Boat Lettering on Classic Wooden Boats
On classic wooden boats, we skip the film and gild the name by hand in traditional gold leaf, working from our shop in Edgewater, Maryland.
