Faux Antique Signs for Padgett Swann Machinery
These faux antique signs look old, but they are new. We painted these wooden signs for Padgett Swann Machinery Company in Florida, and they were made for display in the company’s shop. First, we stain the planks to create a solid, rustic backdrop. Then the driftwood gray planks frame the logo nicely. We made them at our shop in Edgewater, Maryland.
Painted Lettering on Wooden Planks
Painted faux antique signs are always fun to make. For example, we used this same technique to produce an entrance sign for Pit Boys, a popular spot for BBQ and blue crabs in Annapolis. In addition, we donated a mural to the restaurant. It was the owners’ way of thanking the Annapolis community for many years of patronage.
Who Needs Faux Antique Signs?
A painted wooden sign has many uses. For example, wooden surfaces inside restaurants and markets offer an opportunity for hand stenciling and lettering. As well, we have developed methods for stenciling detailed images onto brick and even rough-cut wooden planks. We used a similar approach to paint a detailed logo onto wooden crates at Whole Foods Market in Rockville.
Can We Paint on Rough Surfaces?
Whenever you want a classic look, something traditional and old but new, we can make it on almost any surface. We are often able to find solutions for rough surfaces. Of course, that might require editing your image a bit. Still, we have a good chance of bringing your mural ideas to life, even in challenging conditions.
