We made this sandblasted development entrance sign for Ashleigh, a Maryland community, at our shop in Edgewater, Maryland. The design is simple, and the sign still looks sharp today. First, we sandblasted the HDU sign panel. Then we finished it with 23 karat gold leaf. Gilding is a time-consuming process, but it makes a sign stand out.

Why We Use Gold Leaf on Entrance Signs

Decorative posts and finials need gold leaf as well. Without it, the finials do not stand out, and they do not match the lettering on the sign face. So why does the HDU look like wood? We use a wood grain frame during the blasting process. Wood grain makes every sign look different and unique.

Next, the sign face and posts receive primer and several coats of Sherwin-Williams exterior paint. A good coating helps the sign hold its finish for years.

Where We Build Development Entrance Signs

Designs & Signs makes community entrance signs in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. We have posted many photos of our gold leaf signs on our site.

Another Subdivision Entrance Sign With Gold Leaf

Twin Pines is another subdivision entrance sign with gold leaf. We built custom brick posts with a veneer. HDU gave us an easy way to shape and carve the sign face. Gold leaf adorns the lettering, the trim, and the post caps. Visit the links below to see more entrance signs:
