Routed HDU signs mark the entrances and walkways at Westbard Mews in Bethesda, Maryland. We made four entrance signs plus additional address and wayfinding signs for the property. Each one has a smooth background and raised letters finished in gold leaf. Let Designs & Signs in Edgewater, Maryland handle your next community entrance sign project. We create original layouts and manufacture every sign to fit your property.
Routed HDU signs look great with gold leaf
These community entrance signs are made from high-density urethane. We designed, manufactured, and installed them for Westbard Mews. The smooth background is only possible with a router. In addition, the raised letters receive one layer of 23 karat gold leaf that we apply carefully by hand. Stainless steel hardware prevents corrosion, so the signs hold up outdoors. Next, we prime and paint the signs and posts with Sherwin-Williams paint. Finally, the ball finials also receive gold leaf for a brilliant shine. For sure, these gold leaf signs look great on a sunny day.
What is a routed HDU sign?
A routed HDU sign is a three-dimensional sign carved from high-density foam by a CNC router. These signs suit subdivisions, businesses, churches, and other locations that need high-end signage. We can build a recessed woodgrain background or a smooth one. Raised, flat letters resemble a sandblasted cedar sign. However, we can also rout incised letters, known as v-cut lettering, which resemble traditional hand-carved lettering. HDU requires primer and Sherwin-Williams paint. We offer palladium leaf and gold leaf for letters and trim. To create more contrast between the letters and the background, we add hand-painted outlines. Any custom shape you want, we can make it.
