This repainted boat name belongs to Finest Hour, a fiberglass cruiser whose hailing port is Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. In November 2022, Brendon J. Brandon and Travis Brandon brought the name back by hand. The original lettering had faded over the years, so rather than start over, we kept the same design and gave it new life.
A Repainted Boat Name, Done by Hand
A painted name can fade, but the design underneath is often still worth keeping. First, we prepared the old lettering so the new paint would grip. Then Brendon painted fresh lettering enamel right over the original letters, following each stroke of the script by hand. On the straight lines, we took a little extra care to keep the edges crisp. As a result, the name looks brand new, yet it keeps the character the owner already loved.
Dark Blue Script with a Sky Blue Shadow
The name itself is a bold script in dark blue, with a sky blue shadow that gives each letter depth. Below it, the hailing port sits in clean, dark blue capitals. Together, the two colors pick up the blue stripe along the hull, so the transom looks finished and pulled together. In addition, the shadow helps the repainted boat name stand out against the off-white gelcoat from across the yard.
When a Repainted Boat Name Makes Sense
Hand-painted lettering is a traditional craft, and we still offer it from our shop in Edgewater, Maryland. Many owners choose Avery vinyl for a new name, while others want the look of real gold. However, when a boat already wears a painted name the owner likes, a repainted boat name is often the best way to keep its original style. To compare the options, see our post on vinyl boat lettering vs. paint.
