Brendon J. Brandon has a lifetime of experience in the sign trade, working in Australia, New Zealand, England, and the United States. He is a master gilder and brush artist. At our shop in Edgewater, Maryland, Brendon Brandon finishes every one of our gold leaf signs and glass gilding projects.
Gold Leaf and Glass Gilding
Brendon lays genuine 23 karat gold leaf by hand, the traditional way. His glass gilding has lasted for decades on busy businesses, like the logo at McGarvey’s Saloon in Annapolis, which still looks good after more than 30 years. He also paints the fine outlines on our gold leaf boat names and carved quarterboards, like this teak nameboard. One of his pieces, a set of gilded numbers with inlaid diamond details, is now on display at the Museum of the Gilding Arts.
Restoration and Historic Work
Brendon also restores antiques, glass, and gold leaf, and he finishes historical and architectural renovations in Annapolis and Washington, DC. For example, he used historical photos to recreate the original gold leaf on an antique fire coach. In addition, he helped restore the gold leaf on the Marine Corps War Memorial with the Society of Gilders. Read more about our gilding and restoration work.
