Marine Business Sign for Stella Marine Services
Stella Marine Services needed signs for three locations, so we made three matching marine business signs. Each one measures 4 x 8 feet, and we routed them from 1-inch-thick HDU (high-density urethane). The company has offices in Cape St. Claire, Rock Hall and on Turkey Point Island, just down the road from our shop.
Raised Letters on a Smooth Background
Many of our routed signs have a woodgrain texture, but these have a smooth, recessed background instead. As a result, the flat raised letters and border on this marine business sign look clean and sharp from a distance. First, we painted the background in latex. Then we carefully rolled enamel onto the letters and border with a brayer, so every edge stays crisp.
A Gold Leaf Star Logo
The star in the Stella Marine logo carries 23 karat gold leaf. We applied it by hand using traditional methods and an oil-based size, just as we do on our quarterboards and carved signs. Because real gold leaf won’t tarnish, the star will keep its shine outdoors for years. In fact, a touch of gold gives any marine business sign a classic nautical look. Our gilding guide covers more about the craft.
Signs for Businesses Around the Bay
Turkey Point Island sits close to our shop in Edgewater, Maryland, while Rock Hall is across the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore. We’ve been making signs since 1976 for businesses on and off the water. A matching marine business sign at every location also helps customers recognize the company wherever they find it.
