This custom boat name graphic belongs to Wine Down, a Meridian from Edgewater, MD. We lettered the name in engine turned silver leaf film with a black Avery outline. In addition, we drew a pair of black wine glasses right into the name, an original touch that makes it one of a kind.
An original custom boat name graphic
Most boat names are just letters. On Wine Down, however, two clinking wine glasses sit between the words and become part of the name itself. We drew the glasses to match the flow of the script. As a result, the graphic and the lettering read as one design rather than a name with clip art beside it.
Engine turned silver with a black outline
Engine turned silver leaf has a swirling pattern that catches the light from every angle, much like the engine turned silver on Muffin. However, silver alone can fade from a distance. For that reason, every silver letter sits on a thin black outline. The wine glasses themselves are solid black, so they stand out crisply against the white hull. That way, the whole design stays sharp from the dock. The hailing port sits below in clean capitals, so it supports the name without competing.
Designing your custom boat name graphic
A good graphic starts with your story. First, tell us what the name means to you, and we will sketch a few ideas. Next, we send a mock photo of the design on your own boat. Then we install the black Avery outline and lay the silver leaf film on top, much like vinyl, so every detail stays crisp. For more ideas, see Pearl and True North, or browse all of our silver leaf boat names.
Match it on a life ring
A custom graphic like this one also looks great off the boat. For example, you can add a custom life ring with the same name and artwork for the dock or the cockpit.
