We designed and installed this custom vinyl sailboat name for Brier Patch at Hartge Yacht Yard in Galesville, Maryland. Brier Patch is a historic vessel, so the name had to look traditional and classic. We matched the curve of the tunnel, and the name reads well even in one color. At Designs & Signs in Edgewater, Maryland, we cut every boat name from Avery vinyl. If your sailboat needs a new name, contact us for a quote.
How We Install a Vinyl Sailboat Name
Most boat names use one or two custom colors. Sometimes we add gold leaf film or silver leaf as well. We cut all of our names from Avery cast vinyl, which comes in many colors. Popular outline colors include black, white, and navy blue.
For a new boat name, we recommend a light letter color with a dark outline. However, a dark blue hull calls for the reverse. A white outline works well on a blue hull, so we can flip the colors. In addition, we remove old names and prepare the hull so no shadow of the previous lettering shows.
Next, we send you fonts to review. Then we send a drawing with measurements for final review, and we revise it if needed. Once you approve the drawing, we install the name and the hailing port.
Vinyl is not the only option. See another example of a vinyl boat name, or learn about our carved quarterboards if you want a more traditional look.
