Plank (wood)

A plank is a piece of timber that is flat, elongated and rectangular, with parallel faces, higher or longer than wide, used in carpentry and the construction of ships, houses, bridges and other structures. Planks are usually made from sawn timber, more than 38 mm thick, and are generally wider than 63 mm. If the width is less than 63 mm and the thickness less than 38 mm is called board.
