Fishing Boat Quarterboard: Fish Whisperer in Gold Leaf

Fish Whisperer is a fishing boat quarterboard we carved in mahogany in our Edgewater shop. The board measures 48 inches long and 10 inches tall. It also has notched corners and classic serif lettering. As a result, the name has a little personality.

Carved Mahogany and 23 Karat Gold Leaf

First, we carved the letters into the mahogany. Then we gilded them in 23 karat gold leaf. Next, we outlined each letter in black. This outline makes the name stand out against the rich red grain. As a result, this fishing boat quarterboard reads clearly from the dock or across the water. In addition, gold leaf never tarnishes or fades. That’s why it has been the traditional finish for boat names for generations.

Finally, we sealed the board with TotalBoat Lust marine varnish. After that, we sprayed several coats of Awlcraft 3000 Clear on top. Together, they protect the wood and gold from sun, rain and salt air. So the board stays sharp season after season.
