A custom gold leaf boat name installed by Designs & Signs for Burr Yachts Sales in Edgewater, Maryland. This photo illustrates the installation process from start to finish. First the outline is installed (premium nine year vinyl), followed by the gold leaf (premium Sign Gold). This photo shows the brilliant detailing of the engine turned gold leaf. Designs & Signs also offers traditional hand application of gold leaf, which is great for restored wooden boats, but for most modern fiberglass hulls it is more appropriate to use geniune 23 karat Sign Gold. After installation the edge of the Sign Gold is sealed with a protective clear coat, which extends the life of this excellent genuine gold leaf film. Designs & Signs is proud to letter every Fleming Yacht, sold and outfitted by Burr Yacht Sales. We also manufactured carved teak side boards and a custom lettered ring buoy for Kathleen.

Golden Light

Genuine gold leaf boat name installed by Designs & Signs at Hartge Yacht Harbor in Historic Galesville, Maryland. Golden Light was created with 23 karat florentine swirl sign gold with a premium vinyl white outline. First the white vinyl is installed on the surface of the transom, then the gold leaf is installed on top of the white, which creates the outline. We always seal the edge of the sign gold with protective clear, which helps to preserve and protect the gold leaf. With proper maintenance and cleaning, your custom gold leaf boat name will look great for years to come.

Top Cat II

A custom boat name installed by Designs & Signs at Holiday Point Marina in Edgewater, Maryland. This is an excellent example of a two color custom vinyl boat name. Years ago Designs & Signs President, Brendon Brandon, travelled from one marina to the next, installing hand painted boat names with nothing more than a brush and a mole stick. Of course today we prefer to use premium vinyl because it can be removed when necessary or changed, where as removing a painted name (we can do that too) is much more difficult and costly. Regardless of these changes in materials and production, the goal of our naming is still the same. At Designs & Signs we pride ourselves on installing the best boat names in Annapolis. There are plenty of other companies out there doing less for less, and it shows. When it comes to installing a boat name properly you can rely on Designs & Signs. We simply are the best!

A custom vinyl boat name on a Gemini at Performance Cruising in Annapolis, Maryland. This original smart cat was drawn by Travis Brandon of Designs & Signs. Travis creates many custom designs and logos by hand. He scans his drawings into digital format and uses Flexi-Sign Pro to vectorize and edit them. After vectorizing and editing, the custom logos or drawings can be reproduced cleanly at any size with a vinyl cutter or large format solvent printer. This smart cat was made with premium nine year cast vinyl. Designs & Signs always uses premium vinyl for our custom boat name installations.
