Brendon Brandon applies a hand painted outline to a hand carved side board with gold leaf letters. After the gold leaf and painted outline have been applied, the board is finished with a protective clear coat. With proper maintenance the beautiful gold leaf name boards can retain their original beauty for many years. These particular side boards were manufactured for Kathleen, a beautiful Fleming Yacht, sold and outfitted by Burr Yacht Sales in Edgewater, Maryland. Carved side boards, also called running boards, name boards, or trail boards, can be carved from a variety of exotic woods. Most commonly we manufacture carved teak boards or carved mahogany board. A pair of gilded hand carved side boards, sometimes referred to as name boards, trail boards, or running boards. The teak side boards are fashioned, carved, and finished by hand. Each hand carved letter is gilded with 22 karat gold leaf. The gold leaf letters are then polished with soft cotton and the dark outline is painted by hand with a fine lettering brush. Finally the boards are finished with protective clear. The boards must be maintained periodically to preserve and protect the wood and gold. When properly serviced the beautiful gold leaf can be maintained in it’s original state for many years.
